Small Group Tuition

Learning Together. Thinking Deeper.

Focused online tuition for small groups of ambitious students working towards similar academic goals.

Small-group tuition combines expert teaching with the opportunity to discuss ideas, compare approaches and learn alongside students of a similar level. Groups are carefully formed so that students can challenge one another appropriately while still receiving focused, high-quality teaching.

“

Ryan has transformed our son’s attitude towards mathematics. What was once his most challenging subject has become one of his strongest. His lessons are engaging, supportive and tailored to exactly what our child needs. We have seen significant improvements in both confidence and attainment, and Ryan’s feedback keeps us fully informed of his progress. We would highly recommend him to any family looking for high-quality maths tuition.

Learning Alongside Others

There are things students can gain from learning alongside others that simply don’t arise in an individual lesson.

A student might hear another interpretation of a text they hadn’t considered, discover a different way of solving a mathematical problem or need to explain their own reasoning clearly enough for someone else to understand it.

These interactions encourage students to think beyond their first answer and engage more deeply with the ideas being explored.

In a carefully matched small group, students aren’t simply learning at the same time. They are learning from one another.

Who Is Small-Group Tuition Best For?

Small-group tuition can be particularly valuable for students who:

  • enjoy discussing ideas and learning alongside others;
  • respond positively to appropriate academic challenge;
  • benefit from hearing different approaches and perspectives;
  • are confident enough to contribute within a small group;
  • are working towards similar academic goals to other students; or
  • would benefit from developing communication and independence alongside their academic skills.

All groups are delivered online and are available to suitable students in the UK and internationally.

Small Group or One-to-One Tuition?

Neither format is automatically better. The right choice depends on your child’s individual needs, learning preferences and academic goals.

Small-Group Tuition

Provides opportunities for discussion, collaboration and shared challenge, making it particularly valuable for students who benefit from learning alongside appropriately matched peers.

One-to-One Tuition

Provides the greatest level of individualisation and flexibility, allowing every lesson and priority to be shaped entirely around one student’s needs and progress.

Small Groups, High Expectations

As a qualified teacher, former Head of English, Head of Maths and senior leader, I bring extensive classroom and small-group teaching experience alongside my specialist work preparing students for UK independent school entrance exams.

Effective group teaching requires more than presenting the same material to several students. It requires careful grouping, purposeful questioning and the ability to involve, challenge and support individual students while moving the group forward together.

Small groups allow students to benefit from the ideas and experiences of their peers without losing the focused teaching and high academic expectations at the heart of my approach.

Enquire About Small-Group Tuition

Places within existing groups depend on availability and whether the group is academically appropriate for your child.

If you’re interested in small-group tuition, complete the expression of interest form with some information about your child’s current attainment, academic goals and, where relevant, target schools. I’ll review this alongside my current groups and recommend the most appropriate option.
