Year 3 and 4
“I started too early!” said no parent ever. Build strong foundations in the basics of 11+ content. I emphasise fundamental concepts and foster enjoyment and engagement so your child can keep it up in the following years.
Year 5
Year 5 is the critical year for 11+ exam preparation. My lessons are designed to deepen understanding of key concepts and focus on more complex problem-solving techniques and reasoning skills. Our goal is to feel well-prepared for the challenges of the 11+ exams.
Year 6
Year 6 lessons refine and perfect 11+ exam skills as student’s exam dates approach. I offer strategic advice and tips for the exam day, as well as interview preparation. Many students stay on to prepare for their SATs or their transition to secondary school.
Who is Ryan Varco?
I am a former Head of Reading, Head of Maths and current Head of English and Key Stage at my primary school. I have 10+ years of teaching experience and 5+ years of experience as a private tutor in KS2 English, Maths and Common Entrance exam preparation.
As a classroom teacher and tutor, I pride myself on my proven track record of outstanding results. I have a 100% pass rate with 11+ students who have been with me for at least 6 months. My extensive experience allows me to support my students to achieve 80%+ in their entrance exams for top UK schools.
In order to support as many students as possible, all my teaching now takes place virtual, using various different platforms that allow me to give feedback in real-time.

READING
My reading program supports reading fluency across a range of different text types and extracts. Lessons focus on comprehension skills and strategies to accurately answer comprehension questions at pace.
WRITING
My writing program focuses on developing strong application of English grammar skills and writing features essential for the 11+ exams. I also cover vocabulary building, spelling, punctuation, and essay writing.
GRAMMAR
My grammar program develops depth of understanding of grammar content in the 11+. I Students are exposed to this through worked examples and different model types. This supports application during the writing process.
MATHS
My maths tutoring program builds a solid foundation in 11+ mathematical concepts while enhancing problem-solving skills. Understanding and applying all key areas to a variety of problems is key in preparation for the complexity of 11+ maths exams.
VERBAL REASONING
My verbal reasoning program covers all verbal reasoning question types in the 11+. Students are taught strategies to improve their accuracy, fluency and pace to support their confidence.
NON-VERBAL REASONING
My non-verbal reasoning programs cover all non-verbal reasoning question types in the 11+. Students are taught to identify the question type and apply the correct strategies under timed conditions to ensure accuracy and pace.

Independent Schools
